Fall Inspired Smokey Eye

Okay, finally I've posted my video onto Youtube, yeee! I originally had edited it and found that it was too long, so to shorten it for Youtube, I had to cut some things and speed up some others...but, all in all, I'm still happy with the turn out.

Towards the end of August up til now, I started transitioning out my summer wardrobe and trying to incorporate some fall pieces/colors into it to match the weather and the season. By having the contrast of the black and the light chiffon color, I wanted to show the main contrast between the change in my seasonal wardrobe, and the green and purple seemed to compliment them (obviously because it was an eyeshadow quad) and it just so happened to reflect the colors I was changing into as fall approaches. I love a smokey eye, and I saw that Make Up Forever came out with a smokey eye palette and I was in love. <3 I love smokey eyes, but only when there's color incorporated into it. So I took my inspiration from fall, and my excitement from this smokey eye palette and decided to do this look.

Tribal Makeup

Hey hey! So senioritis has officially taken over and on Monday I tweeted "what should my next blog entry be?" My bestie Vida (www.vidacarson.com) tweeted me back and said "TRIBAL to go with your nails". At first, I was like, mmmm I don't know, maybe I'll wait, but 2 seconds later I was like, what the heck, why not? As you're looking through the pictures, you might notice a color scheme, and yes! it is inspired by my nails, with the turquoise and black eye, the orange/coral frame & contour, the white and gold cheek and brow highlight...all colors I used on my nails...hehehehe.

This is pre-transformation, basically my makeup from the day, just powder, some light bronzer and mascara. Nothing big, so I just built on top of it.

To start, I took a darker concealer to "dirty" up my face a little and contour. I put it on my nose, my eyes, and under my cheekbones. I also put concealer on my lips to match it to the rest of my skin.

After contouring, I blended a white and a gold pigment and used a stippling brush to create this lighter area around my eyes. It's not showing up as light as it was in the picture, but you can still see the difference right?

After finishing the face part, I took a black cream liner and used it as a base for my eyeshadow. I put it all over the lids and blended it out up to my eyebrows as well as underneath my eye to create a dark, "wild" (lol) look. Then once I blended it the way I wanted, I added the turquoise into the socket and blended it upward, building up on the color. To get an idea of how I wanted to do my lip, I drew the line, but I changed it later.

After that, I just took black cream/gel eyeliner and drew lines/patterns on my face. I used a black eyeshadow to lightly outline what kind of design I wanted and then used the cream eyeliner to make it more intense. After that, I touched up the white gold around the eyes and used a fan brush to dust orange blush around my face and on my cheeks where I contoured.

Nails: Tribal Print

Hello my fellow obsessors~

So I had seen pictures of people doing tribal print on their nails and I wanted to try it out! It's relatively simple, but takes time and patience if you aren't very coordinated with your left hand. Overall, I'm really happy with my results!

First Step: Pick two colors as your base and paint in varying diagonals on your nails.
Second Step: Once that dries, take a white nail art polish and draw thick and thin lines to create some basic shapes.
Third Step: When that dries, take a black nail art polish and draw lines and patterns. The less planned it is, the better it'll turn out!

Here are my results!

Products Used:
  • SEPHORA by OPI - Caliente Coral
  • SEPHORA by OPI - Mermaid to Order
  • Kiss Nail Art - White
  • Kiss Nail Art - Black
  • Kiss Nail Art - Gold
  • Sally Hansen Dries Instantly 30 Second Top Coat
Hope this was helpful! :)

What Happens in Vegas....

So after a week of madness, I decided to make the most of my night off. This look is something that was just for fun. While watching this weeks episode of The Real World: Las Vegas, I was inspired by the bright lights at night, and I wanted to capture the fun atmosphere and beautiful view of nighttime Las Vegas. I wanted to use a lot of color and make it really dramatic. It uses lighter greens and blues with a bold purple for the sharp line, and softer pink and gold to highlight. I used two sets of dramatic lashes on the top and bottom as well as a hot pink blush (which is a first for me). I hope you like it! Leave comments below!

Products Used:
  • Urban Decay Primer Potion
  • e.l.f. Mineral Eyeshadow - Dreamy
  • e.l.f. 100 color Mineral Eyeshadow Palette

Spring Trend: Coral Lip

This spring and summer, the makeup trend is all about brights. One thing, that I've really loved is the coral lip. A twist on a classic red lip, this is perfect for the warm weather, and is wearable day or night.

The key to wearing a bold lip, is toning down the makeup everywhere else. Instead of looking like Mimi, keep the focus on the lip and do a neutral eyeshadow, a light blush/bronzer, and a fresh face.

When doing a bold lip, I like to prep my lips so that I can make sure the color stays on all day.
- Before getting ready, I exfoliate my lips using the corner of a towel. It's important to have a smooth base, otherwise the color doesn't look as even.
- Once I exfoliate I put on lip balm and finish getting ready.
- Once I'm ready, I blot my lips and start lining and filling in my lips with a nude lip pencil (Sephora Maniac Liner: 11 Chair Obsession). The lip pencil gives the lipstick something to stick to, so it stays on all day. I use nude so that it allows the color to pop more.
- After filling in my lips, I take a lip brush and start filling in my lips with the lipstick (Sephora Lip Stick: R06 Rouge). I prefer using a lip brush, because you can build up the color exactly how you want, and it gives you better precision around the edges of the lip.
- To set my lip for long lasting wear, I use a lip fix (Sephora Lip Last) and dab that all over the lip.
- And you're done! If you want just a matte coral lip, you're good to go! If you're like me and you want to add some dimension to it, add your favorite gloss on top. I used a coral lip gloss with gold shimmer (The Body Shop Love Gloss: 18 Tropical Pink) to add more pop to this already bold lip. *Quick tip: Dab gloss in the center of your bottom lip to give the appearance of a fuller lip*

That's all for now! Thanks for tuning in & leave questions and comments below!
